People often ask Ben what made the difference in his performance and the results that he achieved whilst rowing. For over 7 years he states that it “went really badly” before he and his crew went through a period of change and they achieved their Crazy goal of winning an Olympic gold medal in 2000.
What made 2000 different? There were lots of things that they did differently- they thought about things differently, did things differently: they changed their whole approach and culture. But Ben contends that the only reason they were able to do this was by forming daily habits, the habits that were really going to make a difference. Often these are small and easy to do, but equally it is very easy not to do them – so frequently, we don’t!
“Small changes made on a daily basis multiply into massive improvements in results.” (p. 166 Will It Make The Boat Go Faster?)
