Dr Steve Ingham is steeped in high performance and has provided support to over 1000 athletes of whom over 200 have achieved World or Olympic medal success, including some of the world’s greatest athletes such as Jessica Ennis-Hill, Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Matthew Pinsent. He has also coached Kelly Sotherton to two Olympic medals.
As a leader, Steve gained insight initially working at the British Olympic Association and then the English Institute of Sport, where up until Rio 2016 he was the Director of Science and Technical Development.
Steve discusses how performance has been at the heart of the remarkable success story that is Team GB, what a performance plan looks like for elite athletes and what business and teams can learn from their approach.
He offers fascinating insight into performance under pressure and how you get individuals and teams to deliver the optimal performance at the most critical moment. His book ‘How to Support a Champion’ explains the process for getting the best from a champion’s performance – as much about how you work with people as it is about science.
In his speech Steve goes on to define the journey required to get the most out of a champion, colleague or team’s performance, and challenges businesses to think differently about how they approach organisational performance.
Rooted in the Will It Make The Boat Go Faster? Performance Principles, it is an engaging, motivational and inspiring speech.
